Sifan Yu receives Summer Research Award
Sifan Yu was the recipient of a Summer Research Award (SRA). The College of Arts and Science Summer Research Award program is designed to help graduate students with outstanding potential to accelerate progress on their research. SRAs provide funds for research expenses related to the doctoral thesis, other advanced research projects, or scholarly activities that significantly advance professional development. SRAs are granted on a competitive basis.
Sifan’s SRA was awarded to support his research in mathematical physics. Sifan has produced cutting edge research on rough solutions of relativistic Euler equations. His research employs a deep assortment of mathematical tools on the boundary of analysis, geometry, partial differential equations, fluid mechanics, and general relativity. He is currently working on a new project that has connections to the mathematical theory of shock waves, an exciting and rapidly developing research area.
