French Professional Certificates

French Professional Business Certificate

The Diplôme de Français des Affaires 1er degré (DFA 1) was established by the Paris Chamber of Commerce and serves as proof of good knowledge of spoken and business French. Examinees must be able to understand newspaper articles on general socio-economic issues, to translate from their native language into French, to correspond in French, and to handle forms and documents.

The certificate can be taken at Vanderbilt University in the Department of French & Italian. Students who take FREN 3111: French for Business are eligible to take the CCIP (Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris) exam to earn an official French diploma in the field.

French Professional Medical Certificate

The DFP médical B2 is open to students wishing to work in the medical field or work on medical documents written in French. Examinees must have a good level of French and wish to validate their knowledge with a French medical certificate.

The DFP médical B2 validates a French knowledge of Level B2 based on the “Cadre Européen Commun de Référence pour les Langues.” It compares approximately to 450-500 hours of training and allows the user to independently execute normal tasks in French in the medical field.

Students who take FREN 3112: Medical French are eligible to take the CCIP (Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris) exam to earn an official French diploma in the field.
