Posted by on Thursday, March 21, 2024 in News.

The Spring 2024 semester is in full swing and we are diving into Hamblet season here in the Department of Art and we are so excited and proud to present to the Vanderbilt University  and Nashville communities the works of our current senior art majors opening on April 12, 2024 in Space 204.

The thirteen exhibiting student artists are Darien A. Deal, Angelica L. Parker, Gem Miller, Laney Moyers, Dominique Greene, Mady Johnston, Chidinma Onukwuru, Sydney Featherstone,  Kiko Gio, Jon Ma, Carissa Li, Michael You, and Hannah Walton.

The Senior Year Experience is an immersive final chapter for our art majors where they experience an art filled weekend in New York City (fall semester); one-on-one critiques with prominent visitings artists, curators, writers; and other creative professionals; culminating in a group showing of their thesis exhibitions and projects. In addition to their exhibition, the students are given the opportunity to compete in the annual Margaret Stonewall Wooldridge Hamblet Award juried competition for a chance to be the recipient of one of two travel grants.

The Senior Show 2024, The 13: No Vacancy, will feature the works of thirteen senior art majors expanding Space 204 into three exhibitions spaces with work being made in numerous media including but not limited to: fiber arts, video and sound, projection, installation, performance, painting, coding, video game development, sculpture, and drawing.

This capstone event  rounds the department academic year programming with a large opening reception and open house, where the works of the ARTS students in our classes and the art majors will be on display throughout the EBI Studio Arts Center.
