Patrick DeGuira

Lecturer of Art

Conceptual in nature, Patrick DeGuirs’s work is intended to be meditative and carried out with minimal means. He works in a broad range of materials and forms, including installation and sculpture, photography, research and observation, curation and writing. His work evolves from ideas such as systems thinking, temporality, climate anxiety, and the study of nature and ecologies.

DeGuira holds a BFA double major in painting and sculpture from Memphis College of Art, studied at the New York Studio Residency Program via Parsons School of Design, and received an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. His work has been featured in exhibitions at The Frist Art Museum, Cheekwood, Hunter Museum, Brooks Museum of Art, Whitespace, Fred Snitzer Gallery and Zeitgeist Gallery. He is a full time Lecturer in the Department of Art at Vanderbilt University.
