The Philosophy Department sponsors a variety of events throughout the academic year. For more information on these events, and for specific event schedules, please click on one of the links below.

The Philosophy Colloquium series provides a list of lectures delivered by experts in the field. Each is followed by a reception with light snacks and drinks.

The Berry Lectures in Public Philosophy feature some of the discipline's most renowned professors, who deliver accessible talks that are free and open to the public.

The Vanderbilt Modern Philosophy (VAMP) seminar series features an ensemble of diverse speakers on topics in  Modern Philosophy, ranging from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century, including Early Modern authors, Kant, Hegel, and figures in Romanticism and Idealism. 

The Vanderbilt Chapter of Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) hosts events that discuss the challenges facing minorities in academic philosophy, work on areas of philosophical study that address the experiences marginalized groups, and engage with philosophical texts written by minority authors or from minority perspectives.

The  Social and Political Thought Workshop Series  (SPT) is a series of lunchtime talks. After the speaker leads a discussion or delivers a paper, a commentator addresses points in the worth discussing, and the floor opens to a Q&A.
