Derek Price received his B.A. in Philosophy from Belmont University before joining the German Studies program at Vanderbilt in the Fall of 2014. He is interested in German literature and culture, philosophy, critical theory, media studies, and game studies. His dissertation project "Playing Economy: Leisure and Labor in German Gaming Cultures" addresses the convergence of labor, leisure, work, and play in and around German video games and board games. Derek also produces and co-hosts "Scholars At Play," a podcast dedicated to the critical discussion of video games and their place in society and the academy, and has worked on video essays and podcasts as a member of theComparative Media Analysis and Practice Joint PhD program at Vanderbilt.
