A Brief History of Vanderbilt's Title VI U.S.-Brazil Program
The U.S.-Brazil Program launched by Presidents Bill Clinton and Fernando Henrique Cardoso provides grants for up to four years to consortia of at least two academic institutions each from Brazil and the United States and is designed to foster the exchange of students and faculty within the context of bilateral curricular development. The program is administrated jointly by the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE), the U.S. Department of Education, and Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior (CAPES), and the Brazilian Ministry of Education.
