Kristy Roschke

Kristy is a media literacy researcher interested in the way complex information systems impact how we view and understand the world. Her recent research has examined trust and transparency in the media, health misinformation and media literacy education adoption and best practices. She has provided subject matter expertise on misinformation, media literacy and effective communication practices to Meta, the International Medical Corps, the World Health Organization, and the Center for Homeland Defense and Security. 

She is a member of the National Academy of Medicine’s Communication Advisory Group, a board member for the National Association for Media Literacy Education, and co-lead for the task force on Defeating Disinformation Attacks on U.S. Democracy convened by the McCain Institute and Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. She has developed a number of media literacy programs, including the country’s first bachelor’s degree in Digital Media Literacy and a successful online media literacy course that has enrolled more than 3,000 participants.
