Senior Awards
The Armstrong Family Biochemistry & Chemical Biology Scholar Award – $1,500
Awarded to a graduating biochemistry and chemical biology major in recognition of excellence in scholarship and laboratory research. This award is open to a BCB student who has earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 in the required BCB courses and has scored in the top third of students on the Proficiency Exit Exam. The student will have conducted at least two semesters of research total and at least one semester of BCB 3201 or BCB 4999 within the same laboratory group. A nomination letter from the research mentor is required.
Aida Nureddin Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award – $1,000
Awarded to a graduating biochemistry and chemical biology major in recognition of excellence in laboratory research. Aida Nureddin Undergraduate Scholar Award – $750
Awarded to a graduating BCB major in recognition of academic excellence in the biochemistry and chemical biology curriculum. This award is open to a BCB student who has earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 in the required BCB courses and has scored in the top third of students on the Proficiency Exit Exam.
Junior Awards
Aida Nureddin Outstanding Junior Research Award – $750
Awarded to a BCB student for exceptional promise in research in their first year in the laboratory. This award is open to a BCB student who has conducted at least one semester of research under BCB 3201. A nomination letter from the research mentor is required.
Aida Nureddin Junior Scholar Award – $500
Awarded to a BCB student in their junior year with the highest BCB grade point average in the program. The student must have completed 15 credit hours toward the BCB major (exclusive of prerequisites), including at least two of the fundamental BCB courses—BCSI 2520, BCB 4965, CHEM 3310, and CHEM 3710.
