Jing-Cao
Lecturer in Chinese
My name is Jing Cao, and I’m very excited to join our department.
I earned both my M.S. and B.S. degrees from Jilin University, Changchun, China.
I have extensive experience teaching Chinese language in both public school and private school. I taught Chinese language at Goodpasture Christian School in Madison, TN for 10 years. Then I tutored Chinese language at Metro Nashville Public High School for two and half years. In addition, I have volunteered at Huizhong Chinese School every weekend for the past 17 years, where I continue to teach intermediate to advanced level classes.
Over the past three years, I have specialized in preparing high school students for the AP Chinese exam. One of my proudest accomplishments is that, for three consecutive years, all my students have earned a 5 on the AP Chinese exam.
Furthermore, I have participated in various professional development programs in Chinese language education, completing more than 400 hours of training. My professional development includes:
- 10 consecutive years of attendance at the TFLTA Conference (Tennessee Foreign Language Teaching Association)
- Two consecutive years of participation in the STARTALK Chinese Academy for Teachers at Kennesaw State University, Georgia
- ACTFL Conference (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages)
- 50 hours of professional development training through Metro Nashville Public Schools
- Educational Training Program for Teaching Mandarin, sponsored by the Overseas Community Affairs Council of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Atlanta, Georgia
