ReChard Peel

Director, Black Cultural Center

Dr. ReChard L. Peel Jr is an experienced higher education professional with nearly a decade of experience supporting and creating initiatives for underrepresented students in higher education. He has been at Vanderbilt for 8 years and has held roles as Program Coordinator in the Student Center for Social Justice and Identity (SCSJI), Assistant Director of the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center (BCC), and now Director of the BCC. He has been apart of various committees and engaged in voluntary services opportunities at Vanderbilt such as being a Posse Mentor. He has also taught classes and guest lectured in the Peabody school of education. Prior to Vanderbilt, He received a Bachelor’s degree in African American studies from Purdue University, A master’s From Grand Valley State university and most Recently earned a PhD from Indiana State University. Outside his professional roles and educational pursuits, he enjoys art and graphic design, performs spoken word, does photography, and enjoys serving his community in various ways.
