Malcolm X @ 100: Sight, Sound & Conversation – A Centennial Colloquium at Vanderbilt University

In conjunction with the Dark Testament exhibition, the African American and Diaspora Studies Department and Callie House Research Center at Vanderbilt University invite you to a historic centennial colloquium honoring El Hajj Malik El Shabazz (Malcolm X). Join us for an afternoon of meaningful dialogue and reflection.
Date: February 21, 2025
Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: The Space (G29), Vanderbilt Divinity School
This three-hour colloquium will explore Malcolm X‘s enduring influence through:
– His emphasis on education and self-determination
– His philosophical and spiritual evolution
– His relevance to contemporary movements
– His impact on words and music
– His international impact and human rights advocacy
The program features rare multimedia presentations of Malcolm X‘s speeches and writings, spoken word performances, engaging panel discussions, and interactive community dialogues. It highlights a unique collaboration between Vanderbilt’s African American and Diaspora Studies Department, The Callie House Research Center, Peabody College Library, and the Nashville Black Literacy Coalition.
