Cameron Pattison

Graduate Student

Cameron Pattison's primary research interests are centered on the innovations made to Greek philosophy upon its assimilation into the Islamic intellectual tradition. He is particularly interested in the ways in which philosophers from these traditions respond to, and at times integrate, religious phenomena, mythological narratives, and poetics into their philosophical frameworks. Pattison was selected as a Russell G. Hamilton Scholar in 2023. He also received the Ernest Fortin Memorial Grant in 2022 and the J. Glen Gray Award in philosophy in 2018. Pattison has been an engaged member of the Aquinas and "the Arabs" International Working Group since 2022. Presently, he is immersed in the study of al-Farabi's theory of divinatory dreams and its intricate relationship with his comprehensive philosophical framework.
