Nashville, TN (April 2024) – Vanderbilt University\u2019s Theatre Department proudly presents its 2024-2025 season lineup: The Eco Grief Plays, <\/span>DORES TO THE PAST<\/span><\/i>, Student Works Festival, and <\/span>She Kills Monsters<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kicking off the fall semester, immerse yourself in four groundbreaking plays delving into eco-grief, the complex range of emotions that accompany living through the climate crisis, developed in collaboration with the Curb Center and CSET (Communication of Science and Technology). Witness the talents of playwrights Gina Femia, Kristin Idaszak, Reynaldo Piniella, and Jaymes Sanchez as they bring climate concerns to life for a Nashville audience. Directed by Dr. Leah Lowe and a soon-to-be-announced director, The Eco-Grief Plays promise evenings of reflection and revelation from Sep 26th – 29th and Oct 17th – 20th.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mark your calendars for Alumni Weekend in November, where Vanderbilt alumni Will Bonfiglio (’12) and Jessica Owens (’12) will transport you through time with <\/span>DORES TO THE PAST<\/span><\/i>, a gripping exploration sponsored by Vanderbilt\u2019s Sesquicentennial Grant. Directed by recent VU Theatre alumna Tobi Akisanya (’24), performances will captivate audiences from November 7th – 10th.<\/span><\/p>\n

As we step into 2025, don’t miss the Student Works Festival, a celebration of creativity and innovation, featuring the dynamic productions of Vanderbilt’s own students. Submissions open in the Fall semester, with the festival lighting up the stage from Feb 21st – 23rd. Stay tuned to our Theatre website homepage for submission details!<\/span><\/p>\n

Wrapping up the season is<\/span> She Kills Monsters<\/span><\/i> by Qui Nguynen (writer for Disney\u2019s<\/span> Raya and the Last Dragon<\/span><\/i>). Directed by Dr. Kristyl Tift, this comedic adventure promises an exhilarating tribute to geek culture, filled with laughter and excitement.<\/span><\/p>\n
