Katherine Pullen

Katherine Pullen graduated summa cum laude with her B.A. in Intercultural Studies and Journalism from Union University in 2012 and received her M.A. in Sociology from Vanderbilt University in 2015. In her master's thesis, she analyzes representations of gender in Chinese newspaper photographs from China's opening to the West in 1979 through 2013. Current research interests include culture, gender, sports, and media. Her dissertation (in progress) is an exploration of the significance of sports and the culture of sports fandom for reinforcing or challenging gender norms in the lives of men and women.
