Although advanced tools can measure brain activity with high spatial and temporal precision across scales, interpreting this activity as computational processes remains elusive. I propose a framework that uses generative models of visual categories to interpret the information represented, communicated, and computed by brain networks, shedding light on the computations underlying perception.
