Shaina Munin

Senior Lecturer in Psychology

Shaina Munin, Ph.D., is a social psychologist interested in the role of emotion in social interactions. Her research examines the effects of emotions on relationship quality and well-being, with a particular focus on how individuals use language to express emotion and manage the emotions of others. In the classroom, her engaging and supportive teaching style helps students to connect psychology to their own lives and build skills for professional success. She holds a doctorate in Social and Personality Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Psychology from Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining the Psychology department at Vanderbilt, she was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Ohio Wesleyan University.
