Postdoctoral position in human visual perception, object recognition, and computational modeling
Department: Psychology
Description: Dr. Frank Tong’s lab at Vanderbilt University seeks to recruit a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in human vision, computational modeling and/or deep learning to conduct research on the neurocomputational bases of visual processing. In particular, the lab is interested in understanding how human observers are capable of perceiving and recognizing complex objects across a variety of challenging viewing conditions, with the goal of developing deep neural network models that can better approximate the capabilities and tuning properties of the human visual system. This research combines human psychophysics, high-field fMRI at 7 Tesla, and advanced computational approaches, including deep learning.
Application Details: We seek individuals who excel at creative problem-solving, both independently and collaboratively, and who seek to work on challenging scientific questions in a dynamic synergistic environment.
