Making Rejection Work for You – a panel discussion on how to deal with rejection in academia.

On an average day in our department, many of us face rejection – nitpicky reviewers, stern editors, grant review panels, dismissive mentors. How should we respond to repeated rejection? Does it get easier with experience? Why does it feel like everyone else is succeeding while we struggle?

A panel of faculty (Isabel Gauthier, Andre Bastos, Ashley Watts) from different area groups and career stages will discuss their specific experiences with rejection, practical strategies for responding and moving forward and how to maintain perspective in a competitive field. Open discussion will follow – bring your questions, frustrations and advice.
