Cognitive Enhancement in Late-Life Depression Using Targeted Multi-Modal Techniques: Preliminary Findings from VUMC’s COG-D Study
This talk will review cognitive deficits and neural dysfunction commonly seen in late-life depression, as well as rationale for using targeted multi-modal techniques for cognitive enhancement. Preliminary results from the COG-D pilot study, a 4-week daily intervention that paired targeted cognitive training with non-invasive brain stimulation to enhance cognitive and neural functions in late-life depression will then be discussed. Specifically, the talk will discuss the potential benefit of adding active (compared to sham) brain stimulation to cognitive training targeting executive functions.
