Jack Meyer
Jack is a second-year philosophy PhD student. His primary interests reside in 19th/20th century continental philosophy (esp. Hegel and Marx) along with social and political philosophy. Some broad questions guiding his research at the moment include how to conceptualize and respond to various forms of alienation in modern life, whether content can be given to the idea of a politics of finitude, and what explains the many failures (and occasional successes) of mutual recognition. He received the Vanderbilt Award for Doctoral Discovery in 2025 and serves as a union representative for the Philosophy Student Government Association (PGSA).
