From the Syllabus: This seminar will focus on music and identity in global Jewish cultures. The seminar will provide an introduction and background to the cultures, contexts, and historical development and structure of Jewish communities throughout the world. Seminar participants will consider the ways that music is adopted, adapted, and transformed when performed by individual Jewish communities.
