Aomar Boum<\/b>\u00a0is Professor and Maurice Amado Chair in Sephardic Studies in the Departments of Anthropology, History, and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at UCLA<\/u>. A historical anthropologist, Boum is interested in the place of religious and ethnic minorities such as Jews, Baha\u2019is, Shias and Christian in post-independence Middle Eastern and North African nation states. He is the author and editor of\u00a0many books, including\u00a0Memories of Absence: How Muslims Remember Jews in Morocco<\/i>\u00a0(Stanford University Press, 2013),\u00a0The Holocaust and North Africa<\/i>\u00a0(Stanford University Press, 2018),\u00a0Wartime North Africa: A Documentary History, 1934-1950<\/i>\u00a0(Stanford University Press, 2022), the graphic history:\u00a0Undesirables: A Holocaust Journey to North Africa<\/i>\u00a0(Stanford University Press, 2023) and, most recently (in French),\u00a0The Last Rekkas: Chronicles of a Foot Courier in Southern Morocco<\/i>\u00a0(Langages du Sud, 2024).<\/p>\n
