Jewish Studies to host Dr. Anna Duensing, March 26th

Posted by on Friday, January 24, 2025 in Events, News.

Anna Duensing explores how a wide variety of Black Americans, including civil rights and labor organizers, journalists, artists, musicians, soldiers, and veterans, responded to Nazi Germany’s persecution, deportation, and later, mass murder, of European Jews in the 1930s and 1940s. Her talk will pay particular attention to the immediate postwar moment and the intersection of grassroots antifascist politics and early recognition and reckoning in the Black public sphere with what would come to be called the Holocaust.
