Heeryoon Shin (Seoul National University, BA; and Yale University, MA, PhD) teaches courses on the art and architecture of Asia, with a special emphasis on South Asian art, architecture, and visual culture. Her research interests include sacred and urban space, cross-cultural encounters, and architectural historiography in early modern and colonial South Asia. She is currently working on a book project that examines the formation of new courtly cultures in early colonial India through the lens of temple architecture in the pilgrimage city of Banaras.
