Vanderbilt students, faculty, staff, and alumni gather to celebrate the retirement of Distinguished Professor of History of Art and Architecture, Dr. Leonard Folgarait.

On April 13, 2023, the Department of History of Art and Architecture hosted a retirement celebration for Distinguished Professor Leonard Folgarait. The event began with a welcome from Dr. Kevin D. Murphy, Andrew W. Mellon Chair in the Humanities, Professor and Chair in the Department of History of Art and Architecture, followed by an introduction and reflections on Professor Folgarait's teaching by Dr. James Housefield, Associate Professor of Design at the University of California, Davis. Professor Folgarait then took the podium to present his lecture, "Reflections on Abstract Art and its Lessons Beyond Art”.

Following his lecture, faculty, staff, students, and alumni were welcomed to come to the front of the room and discuss, reflect on, and express their appreciation for Professor Folgarait and his teaching. Congratulations, Professor Folgarait!
