Susan Dine
Senior Lecturer in Asian Art and Architecture
Susan Dine (Oakland University, B.A.; University of Washington, M.A.; University of Michigan, Ph.D.) teaches courses on Asian art history and museum studies. Her research areas are premodern Japanese art history (particularly Buddhist visual cultures), Ainu art, and museum studies and practice with a focus on accessibility. She is currently engaged in multiple projects, including co-curating an exhibition of Ainu Art with a focus on Ainu women (Menokoyukar) and a book project on representations of language in medieval Buddhist visual cultures, exploring connections between language, bodies, and materialities.
