Fellowships for Abroad Studies
German majors and minors pursuing abroad studies or research projects in Germany can apply for a limited number of fellowships administered directly through the Department. These fellowships draw on two different endowment funds:
- the Dieter and Ingrid Sevin Undergraduate Research Fund and
- the James Edwards Scholarship Fund
Sevin Fellows typically receive up to $1,000 and Edwards Fellows up to $2,000 in support. The Edwards Fellowship is a need-based award and entirely reserved for students planning to enroll in the semester-abroad program in Bremen or the year-abroad program in Freiburg. Sevin Fellowships may be used for other study or research pursuits in Germany as well.
Application deadlines are November 1 for spring and March 1 for summer or year-abroad stays. Application materials include a one-page rationale, a current transcript, and a resume.
Please contact Professor McFarland for questions regarding these fellowships and to submit your application.
