Overview

The Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery features a series of engaging exhibitions each year that represent the diversity of artistic production today, as well as throughout the history of Eastern and Western art. The fall of 2009 marked the Gallery’s move to the historic 1928 McKim, Mead and White building on Vanderbilt’s Peabody College campus and a newly invigorated focus on student engagement and serving the academic mission of the university. The Fine Arts Gallery manages a permanent collection numbering over 6,000 objects in total, and is used as broad-based resource to the university community through exhibitions, student seminars, and special programs. Because the Fine Arts Gallery’s collection is used for the development of temporary exhibitions as well as for student study and research, there are times when the collection will not be on public view. However the majority of the collection can be explored through our Collection Database. For current exhibition information please visit our exhibition schedule.

Admission to the gallery is free and the public is welcome to all events. The gallery sponsors lectures and other programs periodically throughout the year. Special tours and gallery talks may be arranged by contacting the administrative staff at (615) 343-1702. Gallery space is limited in size and our hours are subject to change. For more information, please visit our FAQ page.

Parking
Limited metered and handicap parking is available in front of the building by the 21st Avenue entrance. Additional metered parking is available on 18th Avenue South, on the eastern edge of Peabody Campus.
