The Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery presents a series of exhibitions each year that demonstrate the broad scope of Eastern and Western art, from antiquity through old master traditions, and continuing through modern and contemporary art practices of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Our primary mission is to support the academic enterprise of the university by engaging students and the academic community.  In support of that mission, the Gallery collaborates with departments and centers across campus to present both on-site and traveling exhibitions and programs from our permanent collection.

Beginning with Anna C. Hoyt’s generous donation of 105 Old Master and modern prints over 60 years ago, the Gallery’s permanent art collection has continued to flourish.  Now totaling more than 6,700 works, the collection illustrates comprehensive aspects of both traditional and modern world art and continues to increase in depth and diversity.
