Welcome to the home page of the Max Kade Center for European and German Studies at Vanderbilt University. The Max Kade Center (MKC) is an interdisciplinary center for the study of all things European. The Center houses the undergraduate major in European Studies, as well as six undergraduate joint majors, offered in collaboration with language programs in Vanderbilt's Departments of French and Italian, German and Slavic Languages, and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. We also regularly sponsor films and lectures relating to Europe.

With generous support from the Max Kade Foundation, we are housed in attractive quarters in Buttrick Hall with ample meeting and classroom space. Given the Max Kade Foundation’s commitment to the advancement of understanding of German/American relations, the Center highlights the role of Germany within Europe and in transatlantic relations.

Please feel free to call or stop by with any queries about our majors or minor, our curricular offerings, study abroad opportunities, or our outreach initiatives.
