Byrdlong majored in English\/Creative Writing at Vanderbilt University, is a Black writer from Chicago, Illinois. He is a graduate of the Helen Zell Writers\u2019 Program at the University of Michigan, and a PhD candidate in Creative Writing and Literature at the University of Southern California. Byrdlong\u2019s honors include First Place in\u00a0<em>Boulevard Magazine<\/em>\u2019s 2020 Poetry Contest For Emerging Poets, and a 2020 Gregory Djanikian Scholarship from\u00a0<em>The Adroit Journal<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en\">The Ruth Lilly &amp; Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships recognize outstanding young poets, providing support early in their careers to encourage the further study and writing of poetry in the form of their choosing.
