{"id":1275,"date":"2021-03-16T14:36:14","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T14:36:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/as.vanderbilt.edu\/english\/?p=1275"},"modified":"2025-08-07T18:25:56","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T18:25:56","slug":"getprecise-a-transdisciplinary-research-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/as.vanderbilt.edu\/english\/getprecise-a-transdisciplinary-research-project\/","title":{"rendered":"GetPreCiSe: A Transdisciplinary Research Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vumc.org\/getprecise\/welcome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The\u00a0GetPreCiSe\u00a0Center<\/a> (<u><strong>G<\/strong><\/u>en<u><strong>et<\/strong><\/u>ic\u00a0<u><strong>Pr<\/strong><\/u>ivacy and Id<u><strong>e<\/strong><\/u>ntity in\u00a0<u><strong>C<\/strong><\/u>ommunity\u00a0<u><strong>Se<\/strong><\/u>ttings)\u00a0is an NIH\u00a0Center of Excellence in Ethics Research.\u00a0We founded the center based on the observation\u00a0that the debate about genetic privacy and identity has been based (a) on an incomplete understanding of the influences on the actors involved in genomics research and translation and (b) on possible, rather than probable, risks. \u00a0Moreover, research has typically focused on what\u00a0individuals\u00a0say, effectively minimizing the role of\u00a0community\u00a0and social influences in shaping attitudes toward privacy.\u00a0GetPreCiSe integrates a diverse group of interdisciplinary\u00a0scholars and community advisors to\u00a0collaborate\u00a0and develop a more comprehensive understanding of these worries and the factors that influence them, to model actual risks to privacy and identity, all of \u00a0which will be used to inform policy.<\/p>\n<p>Under the leadership of Jay Clayton, William R.
