She is also the author of\u00a0<em>Break Any Woman Down<\/em>, winner of the Flannery O\u2019Connor Award for Short Fiction, and the novel\u00a0<em>Elsewhere, California<\/em>. Both books were nominees for the Hurston\/Wright Legacy Award. Her work has appeared in\u00a0<em>The Paris Review<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Callaloo<\/em>,\u00a0<em>The Iowa Review<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Huizache<\/em>, among others, and anthologized in\u00a0<em>Watchlist: 32 Stories by Persons of Interest<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Shaking the Tree: A Collection of New Fiction and Memoir by Black Women<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>California Uncovered: Stories for the 21st Century<\/em>.
