Rachel Gould received her B.A. from Harding University (2008) and her M.A. from the University of Arkansas (2012). Her research focuses in 18th-century British literature with a particular emphasis on the intersections between the British and Ottoman empires. Her interests include performance, social readings, and agency. Of particular interest to her research are texts that explore identity, on a national and individual level, through political and religious discourse. Other research interests include postcolonial studies, travel narratives, apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic studies, and translation issues.
