His project investigates the biogeochemical processes and diel (day-night) cycles of carbon and oxygen in Stephens Lake, a shallow oligotrophic lake in Franklin, Tennessee. This work is part of Mahir\u2019s first dissertation chapter, conducted under the guidance of Dr. John C. Ayers, along with committee members Dr. Steven L. Goodbred, Jr. and Dr. Lin Meng.
