REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program. This solicitation features two mechanisms for support of student research:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>REU Sites<\/em>\u00a0are based on independent proposals to initiate and conduct projects that engage a number of students in research. REU Sites may be based in a single discipline or academic department or may offer interdisciplinary or multi-department research opportunities with a coherent intellectual theme. Proposals with an international dimension are welcome.<\/li>\n<li><em>REU Supplements <\/em>may be included as a component of proposals for new or renewal NSF grants or cooperative agreements, or may be requested for ongoing NSF-funded research projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information, visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/crssprgm\/reu\/reu_search.jsp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NSF website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>GeoCorps\u2122 America<\/h2>\n<p>GeoCorps America is a program of the Geological Society of America (GSA), in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the National Park Service.<\/p>\n<p>The program offers\u00a0<strong>paid<\/strong> short-term geoscience positions in some of the most beautiful natural areas in the world.
