CMST/CMA Hiring Digital Media Scholar who Studies Climate Change or AI

DIGITAL MEDIA CULTURES: The Department of Communication Studies and the Department of Cinema & Media Arts at Vanderbilt University seek a joint-appointed scholar at the rank of Assistant Professor, on the tenure-track, beginning Fall 2023.


The successful candidate should possess an emerging scholarly profile in the humanistic study of digital media cultures with an emphasis on climate change and/or artificial intelligence. Climate change and artificial intelligence are part of the College of Arts and Science’s Grand Challenge Initiative, which seeks to address, engage, and intervene in especially pressing social, cultural, and political issues. Applicants must have a Ph.D. (earned by August 1, 2023) in Communication Studies, Media Studies, or a related field, a scholarly record appropriate to a tenure-track appointment at a research-intensive university and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Screening of applicants will begin on October 15, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled.
