Dr. Bohyeong Kim Named Dean’s Faculty Fellow
Dr. Bohyeong Kim has been named a Dean’s Faculty Fellow by the Vanderbilt College of Arts and Science. The Dean’s Faculty Fellows Program launched in 2018 to support untenured faculty in their research, scholarship, and creative expression. Faculty are selected because of their scholarly accomplishments and the promise they show to make an impact in their respective fields. Dr. Kim will hold the title for two years.
Dr. Kim is currently completing a book entitled Critically Capitalist: The Spirit of Asset Capitalism in South Korea, which presents an ethnography of South Korea’s aspiring asset owners to theorize “critical capitalism” as a simultaneous critique and legitimation of capitalism. Her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Cultural Studies, Television & New Media, Media, Culture & Society, and International Journal of Communication.
Dr. Kim has also been awarded a Dean’s Research Studio grant, which allows her to bring to campus two scholars from the field to engage her work. The department is thrilled to welcome Dr. Jiyeon Kang and Dr. Roopali Mukherjee to campus this fall to participate in this important conversation about Dr. Kim’s scholarship.
Congrats, Dr. Kim!
