Vandy Debate at United States Air Force Academy

Posted by on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 in Debate.

Vanderbilt Debate last weekend traveled to the first tournament of the year at the United States Air Force Academy.

Competing against 44 other teams, Vanderbilt finished second place in the Open Division of British Parliamentary Debate, losing on a very close decision in finals.

In addition to this team award, Erich Remiker was named the 3rd best speaker in open and his partner, Will Newell, was 7th speaker. As a team, Will and Erich were the second seed in elimination rounds after earning 15 (out of a possible 18) points in preliminary rounds and were the team that ultimately finished second.

First-year student Will Rotondo-McCord was named the top rookie at the tournament, which means he was the top speaker amongst those who were attending their first college debate tournament.

Congrats to VU Debate!
