Vandy Debate at Morehouse College
This past weekend, Vanderbilt Debate traveled to Morehouse College to compete in a combined Civic Debate tournament on the topic of reparations and a National Parliamentary Debate Association (NPDA) style parliamentary debate.
In the novice division of NPDA, the team of Reagan Massey and Mark Raj finished in second place. The team of Matthew Sohn and Brennan Ferrington made it to semi-finals. Mark was recognized as the top novice speaker at the tournament. Also receiving speaker awards were Matthew (2nd), Reagan (5th), and Brennan (7th).
The open teams were also successful in NPDA. The team of Erich Remiker and Sael Soni finished in second place. Audrey Miller was recognized as the 7th best speaker.
On October 16-20, Vanderbilt Debate will travel to Bogota, Colombia to compete in Civic Debates about how to build just societies. We are looking forward to this first-ever international tournament for Vanderbilt Debate! The team has also been invited to participate in a public debate against Tennessee State at Politicon on October 26.
