Vanderbilt Debate Team Receives National Honors

The 2017-2018 intercollegiate debate season has officially ended with Vanderbilt debaters receiving National Honors.

The Cross Examination Debate Association named senior Kaylee Kohlmaier as one of the 2018 National Debate Scholars.

Kohlmaier is a varsity debater who has been a member of the debate team for all four years of her undergraduate career at Vanderbilt. She is an Economics and Political Science major with minors in both Communication Studies and Philosophy.

Sophomores Brandon James and Erich Remiker advanced to the “Sweet Sixteen” of the Jr. Varsity National Championship. They won the Sweet Sixteen round but were eliminated as one of the “Elite Eight” in the following round.

James was recognized as the Fourth Place Overall Speaker and Remiker was recognized as the Ninth Place Speaker. James is a Communication Studies major and Remiker is majoring both Physics and Economics.
