In Spring 2019, CMST will offer a new course on social media, taught by new faculty member Bohyeong Kim. Below are the details. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Professor Kim.

CMST 3890: Selected Topics in Communication Studies – Social Media & Everyday Life
MWF, 01:10p – 02:00p
Kim, Bohyeong

This course examines the relationship between social media and everyday life from global and ethnographic perspectives. We understand “social media” as an assemblage of media forms and communicative practices that create new forms of sociality in everyday life. Instead of the familiar question of “what new media do to people,” we will focus more on “what people do with media” in the course of their everyday lives.
