The lecture, presented as a webinar and attended by more than 100 students and scholars around the world and in China, surveyed attitudes towards grief, loss, and consolation in the ancient philosophical traditions of Greece, Rome, and China. Professor Zainaldin has an active research program in ancient philosophical consolation and is presently co-authoring a book on the Roman philosopher Seneca\u2019s Consolation to Marcia for Cambridge University Press.
