Students studying Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx studies gain a rich understanding of the cultures, histories, languages, and economies of the largest demographic population in the Western Hemisphere. This interdisciplinary program prepares students to succeed in an increasingly globally connected world.<\/p>\n
Our students develop the following marketable proficiencies:<\/p>\n
Students learn to analyze historical data, thinking critically about how structures of power shape the production of knowledge.<\/p>\n
Students are introduced to research methods spanning the social sciences, humanities, and environmental studies.<\/p>\n
Students engage in applied research, producing new knowledge on public platforms (e.g., Wikipedia) and built environments (Latin American garden).<\/p>\n
Students acquire critical skills in cross-cultural competency through language study, immersive experiences, and classroom learning.<\/p>\n
Students build meaningful relationships with faculty and staff that bridge their academic, cultural, and professional experiences<\/p>\n
