The Program in Cinema and Media Arts at Vanderbilt University invites applications for the position of Mellon Assistant Professor beginning in the 2019 fall semester. This is a non-tenure-track position with a 3-year appointment and a 2/2 teaching assignment. We welcome applications from scholars working broadly in film and media history and theory as well as across a range of national contexts. A successful candidate will have a strong research agenda, be able to teach core studies courses in the major, and offer special topics based on research area. Applicants must have a Ph.D. by August 1st 2019 but, in accordance with Mellon Foundation guidelines, must have received the Ph.D. no more than four years from the start of the position. A complete application includes a cover letter, CV, three letters of reference, a writing sample, two sample syllabi, and evidence of teaching effectiveness.
