Hope you’re all safe and dry out there, and here are some exciting updates and opportunities to keep you warm!

1) THE VANDY-IN-HOLLYWOOD INTERNSHIP PROGRAM RETURNS!!! After taking a year off because of the pandemic, Hollywood’s #1 internship program is back! Here’s the scoop…

The ViH Summer Internship Program, a partnership between ViH and the Vanderbilt Career Center, is a one-of-a-kind summer internship program designed exclusively for current VU students with a passion for film, television, digital media, theater, and professional entertainment of all types. Students participate in summer internships with some of the top companies in the industry. Previous employers have included ABC, IMAX, Imagine, UTA, Paradigm, FX, APA, Smoke House, and many more.

Interns spend the summer working at top-shelf companies, attending our weekly Speaker Series with Hollywood power players and get an alumni mentor. (This year, in order to do our part in stopping the spread of COVID-19, as well as follow guidelines put into effect by Vanderbilt University, the Career Center is transitioning ViH and all other summer programs into virtual experiences.)

Former ViH interns are now writing for network shows, working as studio executives and A-list agents, and producing their own films. So if you or your friend, sibling, child, roommate, or significant other dreams of pursuing a career in Hollywood… THIS IS THEIR CHANCE!

The application can be found on DoreWays under “Vandy in Hollywood” and is # 93918.

The application deadline is: MARCH 12, 2021.

If you have questions or need more information, ViH and the Career Center will be hosting a ViH Info-Session next Wednesday, 2/24/21, at 3pm (CST). 3) FANTASTIC JOB OPPORTUNITY! — Here’s a fantastic job opportunity for those of you looking. This is for a major media company, assisting the head of their talent discovery, development, and inclusion department. You’d be working with the programs that discover and train new writers and directors, especially those from under-represented communities. If you’re interested, email me your resume at chadgervich@yahoo.com and I’ll pass it along. Here’s the job description:

The assistant will provide admin to our Head of department but also generally provide support to the team – scheduling, calendaring, phones, organizing and updating our database of talent, communicating internally and externally to creative and other departments (admins, execs, talent, etc), creating and maintaining tracking lists and grids of talent, shows, execs, etc.  We are heavy on data on this team, so looking for someone who is comfortable with excel spreadsheets, working on various data tracking platforms, and working closely with our internal data analyst.  Also important for this person to be interested in D&I (diversity and inclusion).  Prior experience in event planning/coordination, project administration, and/or working with creative talent (Writers, directors, crew, etc). is helpful.  The assistant won’t really do much script coverage/creative work as we are really looking for straight admin, but always open to someone who is interested in this space as an opp for growth/exposure.
