SPAN 201W: Intermediate Spanish Writing
Raquel Rincón is a Senior Lecturer in the Department and has been at Vanderbilt since 1998. She completed the BA degree in Sociology at Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia and received her Master of Arts (MA) degree in Romance Languages – Spanish at the University of Oregon. Currently, she is coordinator of the undergraduate Spanish Composition Course 201W. She has led the design, update, and implementation of course materials for presentation on line in (OAK), including the creation of learning activities and novel and interesting exercises to promote students’ writing skills. Also, she has worked with course instructors in the selection of new audio-visual materials with accompanying activities, such as films, short videos, photos and Power Point presentations.
Her special research interest have resulted in been awarded by the University to develop and evaluate new methodologies in the teaching of Spanish writing as a second language such as integrating popular contemporary Spanish music and recent newspaper and magazine articles to improve their Spanish writing skills.
