Senior Lecturer in Islamic Traditions
(Non-Tenure Track, One Year Leave Replacement)

The Department of Religious Studies at Vanderbilt University seeks to make a one-year full-time, non-tenure track Senior Lecturer appointment in the Islamic Traditions effective the beginning of the 2012-2013 academic year (PhD required). Area of specialization, historical period, and methodological approach are open. Command of Arabic will be required; other languages relevant to advanced research are welcomed. The successful candidate will teach courses such as surveys of Islamic Traditions, the Qur’an and Its Interpreters, and special topics of the candidate’s choosing.

Application deadline is open until position is filled; review will begin by 17 January 2012.
