About the Registrar’s Office
The Arts and Science Registrar's Office ensures the integrity of the records maintained by the College of Arts and Science. There are two results of this:
- We have a special responsibility to restrict access to those records (for viewing and updating), except under circumstances that are allowable by federal, state, and faculty legislation.
- Faculty legislation and decanal policy can specify conditions which require a change in values maintained in the Arts and Science records. The charge of the Registrar's Office is to make sure that the faculty's rules are represented in the record. If the specified conditions have been met, the record shows it; changes in the record DO NOT occur except when those conditions that have been specified by the faculty (including the deans) are met.
The Registrar's Office does not create the rules, nor do we interpret them; those are roles played by the faculty and the deans respectively. Our primary focus is to create procedures which allow access to the record under the conditions specified in legislation and policy.
